I can finally come up for air after two weeks of swimming in NYC. My move was CRAZY! I was moving my things to storage (in ATL) literally one hour before my flight to NYC. When I got here, I checked into a temporary stay (Marriott in Flushing). The staff was so nice to me and they offered cookies every night at the front desk! Anyway, I stayed at the Marriott for an entire week until I found a place to live in Brooklyn. So now, I am semi-settled in Brooklyn (not far from the Botanical Gardens). I love the area, but was kind of disappointed in the living space. I knew NYC was full of old buildings, but somehow I had this illusion that the apartments would be very plush, modern, and fabulous. I guess I have been watching too much t.v. because I was WRONG!! The apartments I've seen are "renovated" meaning there are new appliances, but not much else. Anyway, I am still happy to be here. My new job is great, and I am finally getting settled. I went shopping on 34th street last weekend and now understand why people freeze their credit cards in a block of ice to keep them from spending money! Oh, and by the way: I simply can't wait for fashion week at Lincoln Center! It's coming soon, and I am sooo excited!!
I'm gonna update this page with my crazies, wackies, and fabulous sitings of the day, so here goes:

So far the craziest thing I've seen: A homeless man cursed a lady out for only dropping change in his bucket. He said she could have given her more and threw the coins at her. LOL!! Wow!

The most wacky thing I've seen: A man riding on his bicycle in 100 degree heat with leg warmers and a winter hat on.

The most disturbing/outrageous thing I've seen: A woman getting hit by a car and the other drivers around her honking because she was lying in the middle of the street. I actually saw the lady get hit and she was lying FLAT. The only way I knew she wasn't dead was because she was screaming in pain. We bystanders went over to help, but the idiots in the cars honked at us all (including the injured woman) to get out of the way so they could drive. Welcome to New York, I guess. Heartless world.

The most fabulous thing I've seen this week: A pair of turquoise Prada pumps in the Saks window. I would've given my first born to have those shoes.... Maybe that's why I'm childless LOL

Celebrity sightings: P Diddy and Jason Hoppy (Husband to Real Housewife Bethenney Frankel); My friend saw Danielle Staub (Housewives of NJ) in Grand Central Station, but I guess it doesn't count if I didn't see her myself, right? She doesn't really matter anyway. Oh yeah, the model who is on the Ralph Lauren ads (the really handsome/sexy guy who is riding the horse with the chick)was sitting by me on the subway (5 train headed to Manhattan from Brooklyn-he was trying to be incognito, but I knew it was him.... I love you boo!). It's unfair for God to make people that gorgeous. You can't help staring even when you try not to.

Something that reminded me of home: I went to a local drugstore (Duane Reade) and lying on the shelf was Halloween candy. The first thing that caught my eye was candy corn. I got misty-eyed because I remember all of the wonderful sushi lunches at Thaicoon (in ATL) and going to the drugstore next door to get candy. I would always want candy corn, but could only buy it around Halloween. So I ended up getting jelly beans and Melissa would get something else fattening. LOL! Miss you Melissa and all of my CDC lunch buddies! Hope to see you soon!

Until next time... Southern Girl in the big city loggin' off. Take care and be fabulous :)
